When God Says Move… Even When It Doesn’t Make Sense
Hello Sis,
I’m going to take you a little deeper into my story… because somebody reading this needs to know what it really looks like to trust God.
Seven years ago, God told us to downsize into an apartment.
And let me be honest… we did NOT understand why.
Everything in us was like, “God… this doesn’t make sense.”
But one thing about God, He doesn’t need your understanding, He needs your obedience.
I’ll never forget June 2019.
We were on vacation, and God spoke to my husband and gave him the vision for New Destiny Church. One word… clear as day:
“JUMP.”
Now I don’t know about you… but jumping requires trust. No backup plan. No safety net. Just faith.
Then October 2019 came… and I heard God say:
“Downsize. I am about to rebuild you and your family.”
And this time… we listened.
Because years before that, we didn’t obey. And we lost everything… except our children (thank you Jesus for that kind of grace).
So this time we said,
“God… even if we don’t understand You, we’re going to trust You.”
And can I tell you? God made it so uncomfortable… so undeniable… that we didn’t even fight it this time.
We just obeyed.
We moved into that apartment.
We downsized.
We humbled ourselves.
And baby… people had A LOT to say.
People talked.
People assumed.
Some even said we were dying spiritually as Pastors.
And let me tell you what hurt the most… People we loved. People we poured into. People we showed up for… disconnected.
Some walked away quietly… Some made noise on the way out.
And we may never know the full “why”, and honestly… we’re okay with that now.
Because God spoke something to us in that season that changed everything:
“Let them disconnect. I am making you a public failure, but I need you to become a private success because of where I am taking you.”
Whew…
That season broke us… but it also BUILT us.
God hid us.
Not to punish us—but to prepare us.
While people thought we were going backwards…
God was rebuilding our foundation.
He was working on our marriage.
Our mindset.
Our discipline.
Our obedience.
And in that hidden place… we started dreaming again.
Not surface dreams… but God-sized dreams.
Then December 2019 hit, and here comes God again.
We received a call from Prairie View A&M inviting us into the BID Academy.
And listen… that opportunity shifted EVERYTHING.
That’s where we learned government contracting.
That’s where we gained the knowledge that we are now walking out in our business today.
And it was in that same season of obedience and rebuilding that we started H.E. Services LLC—a vision that has now grown into a company with multiple departments, creating opportunities and impacting lives in ways we never imagined.
We will forever honor that door that God opened.
And now when I look back at that picture… that season… that apartment…
It wasn’t a setback.
It was the SETUP.
Today…
✨ We built our home from the ground up
✨ We built a business that God continues to breathe on
✨ H.E. Services LLC has grown into multiple departments
✨ We are leading a ministry that has grown from the inside out
And guess what?
We are STILL learning how to trust God… even when we can’t trace Him.
So this is your Monday Motivation, but for real:
Don’t you dare quit on what God told you to do.
I don’t care if people don’t understand.
I don’t care if it doesn’t look good.
I don’t care if it feels like everything is falling apart.
Because what looks like loss…
What looks like silence…
What looks like nothing…
God is working in that place.
And one day, you’re going to look up and not even recognize your life.
I wouldn’t change that season for anything.
Keep building.
Keep trusting.
Keep moving—even when it hurts.
God knows exactly what He’s doing.
And His plan?
It’s STILL the best plan.
