The Woman Behind All the Responsibilities: Have You Made Room for Her?

Personal Growth for Women Who Are Ready to Rediscover Themselves

Family, can I share something with you?

I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately. Maybe it's because I'm celebrating 10 years since publishing my first book, There's Power in Your Pain. Or maybe it's because I'm preparing for another chapter of my life.

But I've been thinking about the woman I was then and the woman I'm still becoming today.

And let me tell you, these last 10 years have taught me some things!

I've been a wife, mother, pastor, entrepreneur, author, and mentor. I've had the privilege of serving people, raising a family, building businesses, and helping others pursue their dreams.

And I am grateful.

But somewhere along the way, I had to learn something about myself.

I knew how to show up for everybody else, but I was still learning how to show up for ME.

When Your Responsibilities Become Your Identity

Have you ever been so busy taking care of everything that you didn't realize how much of yourself you were putting aside?

You know what needs to happen at home.

You know what needs to happen at work.

You know who needs encouragement, prayer, support, or a helping hand.

But when someone asks you what YOU need, sometimes you don't even know how to answer.

I've learned that we can become so comfortable being needed that we forget to ask ourselves whether we're growing.

And family, that's something worth thinking about.

Because being responsible and being intentional about your personal growth are not always the same thing.

A Lesson God Had to Teach Me

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is this:

Before I belonged to anyone else, I belonged to God.

My responsibilities are important, but they are not the entirety of who I am.

And neither are yours.

There is a woman behind the responsibilities who still has dreams, questions, gifts, and areas where she wants to grow.

Sometimes she needs encouragement.

Sometimes she needs healing.

And sometimes she needs to give herself permission to begin again.

Three Questions I Want You to Ask Yourself

Before you make another list of everything you want to accomplish, take a moment and ask yourself:

1. What is going well in my life right now?

Growth doesn't mean everything is wrong. Recognize what you've already accomplished and what God has helped you build.

2. What area of my life needs more attention?

Is it your mindset? Your relationships? Your finances? Your purpose?

Be willing to acknowledge what needs strengthening.

3. What is one thing I can begin doing for my own growth?

Don't make this complicated.

Maybe it's spending 15 minutes reflecting on your goals. Maybe it's having an important conversation. Maybe it's reviewing your finances.

Start somewhere.

Why This Matters to Me

As I began preparing for 2027, I kept thinking about women just like us.

Women who are doing so much for everybody else while still carrying dreams and goals of their own.

That's part of the heart behind SHE LEADS BAM 2027.

It's a six week mentorship experience focused on the woman behind the responsibilities, helping her grow in her Mind, Money, Ministry, and Marriage & Relationships.

But today, I'm not asking you to make another commitment.

I'm asking you to remember that your growth matters too.

There is still more in you, and the woman God created you to be deserves your attention.

If this conversation speaks to your current season, I've shared more about what I'm preparing for 2027.
