When Your Mind Needs to Catch Up With Your Purpose
When Your Mind Needs to Catch Up With Your Purpose
Why Personal Growth Starts With the Way You Think
Family, let me ask you something.
Have you ever known you were capable of doing something, but struggled to believe you could actually do it?
You had the idea.
You had the vision.
You even had people encouraging you.
But somewhere in the back of your mind, there was that little voice asking, "What if I fail?"
Oh, I've been there!
And one thing I've learned over the years is that having a vision doesn't automatically mean we have the mindset necessary to pursue it.
Sometimes God is showing us what's possible while we're still thinking about everything that went wrong before.
Your Past Can Influence How You See Your Future
When I wrote There's Power in Your Pain, I was sharing from experiences that had shaped my life.
But even after writing that book, I still had growing to do.
I had to learn how to recognize the thoughts and beliefs that were affecting my decisions.
I had to confront some things I had carried for years.
And I had to understand that just because something happened to me didn't mean it had to control everything that happened next.
What happened to you will no longer control what happens through you.
That's a declaration I've learned to live by.
But here's what I want you to understand.
Changing your mindset doesn't mean pretending your experiences weren't real.
It means becoming intentional about how you respond to them and what you allow them to determine about your future.
Three Mindset Questions Worth Asking
What have I been telling myself that may no longer be true?
Maybe you've been saying you're too old, too late, not qualified, or not capable.
Where did that belief come from?
What am I allowing fear to keep me from doing?
Sometimes fear shows up as procrastination, perfectionism, or constantly waiting until everything is right.
What would one courageous step look like?
Not ten steps.
Just one.
It could be making a phone call, signing up for a class, asking for help, or finally beginning something you've postponed.
You Don't Have to Have Everything Figured Out
Family, I want you to remember something.
You can be growing and still have questions.
You can be confident in one area and still need support in another.
And you can love God, trust His promises, and still need to work on how you think.
That's why MIND is one of the four important areas we'll explore in SHE LEADS BAM 2027.
We're going to have conversations about identity, confidence, discipline, healing, boundaries, and the thinking necessary for where we're trying to go.
Because the way we think affects the decisions we make and the lives we're building.
Here's Your Challenge
Take five minutes today and write down one thought that has been holding you back.
Then ask yourself:
What would I begin doing differently if I stopped allowing that thought to make my decisions?
You may be surprised by your answer.
And if you're ready to explore how intentional mentorship can support your growth, I invite you to learn more about SHE LEADS.
