The Cost of Staying the Same

The Cost of Staying the Same

Hey Beautiful,

Recently, I found myself reflecting on how often we focus on the cost of moving forward while completely overlooking the cost of standing still.

Whenever an opportunity presents itself, whether it's an opportunity to grow, heal, learn, invest in ourselves, or step into a new season, our minds immediately begin calculating what it will require. We think about the time, the money, the commitment, the sacrifice, and the uncertainty that comes with saying yes. We carefully weigh every possible outcome and often convince ourselves that waiting is the safer option.

But what if waiting has a cost too?

What if remaining in the same place year after year is costing more than we realize?

I think about the women I have had the privilege of mentoring over the years. So many are gifted, talented, intelligent, and deeply called by God. They have dreams in their hearts, ideas they want to pursue, and a desire to live with greater purpose. Yet many find themselves stuck in a cycle of waiting. Waiting for the perfect timing. Waiting until life settles down. Waiting until they feel more confident. Waiting until they have every answer.

The problem is that growth rarely happens in perfect conditions.

In fact, some of the most significant transformations in my own life happened when I didn't feel completely ready. They happened when I chose faith over certainty and growth over comfort. Looking back, I realize that every season of stretching produced something valuable in me. It increased my capacity. It strengthened my faith. It taught me lessons I could have never learned by staying where I was.

That's why I often encourage women to ask a different question. Instead of asking, "What will it cost me to move forward?" ask, "What will it cost me if I don't?"

What will it cost you if you continue postponing your healing?

What will it cost you if you continue delaying your growth?

What will it cost you if you spend another year putting your dreams, goals, and personal development on the back burner?

What will it cost you if you never give yourself permission to invest in becoming the woman God created you to be?

The truth is, every decision has a price. Growth has a price. Change has a price. Transformation has a price. But remaining the same has a price as well, and sometimes that cost is far greater than we realize.

As I prepare for the BAM TransformHER Retreat, I keep thinking about the women who are standing at a crossroads. Women who know they need space to breathe, reflect, heal, and reconnect with themselves, but continue questioning whether now is the right time. Women who feel the nudge in their spirit but are still wrestling with the decision.

My prayer is that they won't simply focus on what they might have to give up. I pray they'll consider what they stand to gain. Greater clarity. Deeper confidence. Meaningful connections. Personal growth. Spiritual renewal. A renewed vision for the next chapter of their lives.

The BAM TransformHER Retreat was created because I believe women deserve spaces that pour back into them. Spaces where they can step away from the demands of everyday life and focus on their own growth for a change. Spaces where healing, leadership, purpose, wellness, and sisterhood come together to create lasting transformation.

This October, only 11 women will gather with me in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for this intimate experience. My prayer is that the women who are meant to be there won't allow fear, hesitation, or uncertainty to keep them from saying yes to what God may be inviting them into.

If you've been feeling that gentle tug in your heart, I encourage you to learn more about the retreat and prayerfully consider whether this experience is for you.

As you move through the rest of your week, I want to leave you with one simple thought:

The greatest risk isn't always taking a step forward.

Sometimes the greatest risk is spending another year exactly where you are.
