October: A Month of Reflection, Healing, and Legacy đź’ś
Hey Beautiful,
There’s something about the month of October that always makes me pause, reflect, and give God a little extra praise. It’s like every year, He brings me back to this place — a reminder of where I started, what He brought me through, and who I’ve become because of His grace.
This October has been especially emotional for me. Coming off the EmpowerHER Conference, I’ve been sitting in a place of deep gratitude. That conference was more than an event — it was an encounter. Watching women walk into that room with heavy hearts and walk out lighter, stronger, and more confident in their calling reminded me why I said yes to God in the first place.
And then it hit me…
This same month, Women of Destiny turns 14 years old. Fourteen years ago, I said yes to a vision that I didn’t fully understand — a vision to empower women to heal, to grow, and to walk boldly in their God-given purpose. I didn’t know what I was doing; I just knew that obedience was better than fear. Looking back now, I can see that this “yes” wasn’t just about me — it was about every woman who would ever be touched by this movement.
October is also the month that carries some of my most personal breakthroughs.
Ten years ago, I released my very first book, “There’s Power in Your Pain.” That book was born out of one of the hardest seasons of my life — a season where God healed me, not just physically, but spiritually. I was broken, but I didn’t stay broken. I took my pain and allowed God to turn it into purpose.
Then four years ago, I partnered with a group of women from my church to write, “There’s a Real Heal in You.” That experience was powerful — not just because of the book itself, but because I watched women find their own healing as they shared their stories. That’s what this journey is all about… not just surviving pain, but transforming it into something that helps others heal too.
And I can’t forget — it was also around this same time, five years ago, that my husband and I made the decision to downsize and live differently. That season tested our faith. We had to make sacrifices, but we knew God was calling us to “live like no one else, so that later we could live like no one else.” And today, we are living in the manifestation of that decision. We have watched God move in ways that only obedience can unlock.
So, why am I sharing all of this? Because this month isn’t just a celebration — it’s a testimony. Every milestone I’ve shared represents a moment where pain met purpose… where surrender produced strength… where obedience unlocked overflow.
I’ve learned that pain is never wasted when it’s placed in the hands of God. He can take what broke you and use it to build you. He can take what hurt you and use it to heal others.
That’s why I always remind my BAM Community and every woman I meet —
👉🏽 Turn your pain into passion.
👉🏽 Turn your passion into purpose.
👉🏽 Turn your purpose into profit.
👉🏽 And turn your profit into the promises of God.
October reminds me that I am a living witness that God’s promises are real.
He is not a respecter of persons. If He did it for me — He can do it for you.
So, sis, keep walking your journey. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Every chapter of your story matters. And one day, you’ll look back — just like I am right now — and realize that what tried to break you was actually building you into the woman God always intended you to be.
