You Can Love God, Serve Others, and Still Need Boundaries

Learning How to Carry Your Purpose Without Losing Yourself

Family, can we have a real conversation about ministry?

Because I think sometimes we need to be reminded that being called by God doesn't mean we're required to do everything.

And I say that as someone who has spent years serving in ministry, leading, encouraging, praying, and helping people.

I love serving God's people.

But I've also learned that being available for everything is not the same thing as being effective in what God has assigned you to do.

Whew! That's a lesson right there.

When Serving Becomes Overwhelming

Have you ever found yourself saying yes when you really needed to say no?

Maybe somebody needed your help.

Maybe there was another ministry responsibility.

Maybe you felt guilty because you knew you had the ability to get something done.

So you added one more thing to your schedule.

And another.

And another.

Until you realized you were exhausted.

Family, I've learned that just because you have the ability to do something doesn't mean it's always your assignment.

There is a difference between being faithful and being overextended.

Ministry Requires More Than Gifting

One thing I want women to understand is that purpose requires stewardship.

It's not enough to recognize your gifts.

We also have to learn how to manage our time, our energy, our commitments, and our priorities.

We have to learn how to communicate.

We have to recognize when we need help.

And sometimes we have to become comfortable with allowing other people to carry responsibilities too.

That's not a lack of faith.

That's wisdom.

Three Things I've Learned About Serving

1. Every opportunity is not necessarily my assignment.

I have to be willing to evaluate what God has entrusted to me and where my attention is most needed.

2. Boundaries help me serve with greater intention.

Healthy boundaries are not about refusing to help people. They're about recognizing what I can reasonably carry.

3. I cannot neglect my personal growth while helping everybody else grow.

The woman serving matters just as much as the work being done.

And that is something I want every woman in ministry to remember.

Purpose Isn't Limited to the Pulpit

Now, let me say this too.

When I talk about ministry, I'm not just talking about pastors, preachers, or church leaders.

Your purpose may be expressed through your business, your family, your community, your gifts, or the people God has called you to influence.

The important thing is learning how to carry what you've been entrusted with.

That's one reason MINISTRY is a central part of SHE LEADS BAM 2027.

We'll discuss purpose, leadership, obedience, priorities, boundaries, and developing a more sustainable way to serve.

Our goal is for women to identify practical next steps for carrying their purpose without losing themselves in the process.

Something to Think About Today

Look at your current responsibilities.

Ask yourself:

What am I carrying that needs a healthier boundary, a different approach, or another person's help?

You don't have to change everything today.

But you can begin recognizing what needs your attention.

If you'd like to learn more about the conversations we're preparing for women in SHE LEADS, you can explore the mentorship experience on my website.
